Be very careful what you say in earshot of your appliances, what's up with the snow, and a fun view from the bedroom window...

While talking to my Aunt the other evening, I mentioned that my washer and dryer, Maytags that were purchased used 23 years ago making them about 30 years old,  were never going to die thereby allowing me to purchase a new washer and dryer.  I told her that I'd probably have to take the washer out and shoot it with a shotgun to get rid of it.  Well, the washer heard me and was so frightened that the next day it spewed water all over the floor.

Off to Lowe's we went yesterday and snagged a nice set for $550.00 total with all the necessary accoutrement like drain hoses and such.  Upon returning home we stuck the washer on the deck, where it is getting buried in snow.

You can click on pictures to embiggum, however I suggest you skip that step with the laundry room.  It's waaaaaaaay too ugly for a Monday.

Why?  Because when we re-tiled the kitchen we didn't do under the washer and dryer figuring when they were replaced we'd do it then.  Well, then is now...

This is one messy sight...

While at Lowe's imagine my cheap thrifty little soul strangling with astonishment at the prices on some of the washers and dryers.  Five or six thousand dollars to wash clothes?  Nothing personal if you have one of these "Cadillac" sets, but I find that a strange way to spend money.  Just my opinion.

And what's up with the snow?  It's only November 22.  I hope this isn't a preview of the rest of the winter.   Look at those two goofy willows that will not drop their leaves.

Bedroom window view.  Not sure what those blobs are?

Better?

How about a bit closer?

Closer still...

We have hundreds of quail that live on our property - mostly in our burn piles which means they never get burned.  I think we have nine huge piles now that have become quail homes.  Oh, well!

What sweet quail. We have many quail around here and rescued two babies a couple of years ago. They had gotten lost from their mother and were running around our driveway. We caught them and delivered them to the local bird rescue center. They were just about the cutest darn things I've ever seen.

Ugh...washer/dryers. We bought some "nice' Maytag washers when we remodeled about 5 years ago. They are front loaders and although they weren't $5000, they were still costly. The dryer has been fine, but the washer has given us nothing but headaches. It spins so violently that it moves around the laundry room. Last night it decided it wanted to do only a partial spin, leaving our clothes soaking wet.
My husband says one of these days, he's going to get rid of it and buy a standard top loading washer for a quarter of the price.

Good luck with your new set! That's a great price.

My daughter got a new set a while back. The washer sounds like a jet - not that loud but the type of noise it makes at different times during a wash cycle.
The snow is pretty to look at, but hope we don't get any this Winter.

I love the pictures of the quail. I'm happy that you were able to get a new washer/dryer so quickly. I suppose there was no wood to knock on after you mentioned them originally.
