Outside Plastic Pot Re-do

Transformation Thursday

I'm linking to the lovely Gina over at The Shabby Chic Cottage   Be sure and go over and check out all the fabulous transformations.

Plastic Pots for the deck get a make-over...

As I mentioned in my previous post on terracotta pots (my favorite), due to the very low humidity in our area, they are not very user friendly.  I found these pots at Big Lots and they really aren't all that bad looking as they are.  However, I wanted them to look a bit aged.

Krylon makes a granite spray which would work really well, but it's expensive and would make the pot end up costing way too much.  The idea is to keep the price for the total pot, dish, and make-over under $10.00.
They have a nice shape and pretty detail for such inexpensive pots...

Out came my acrylic paints...

I chose antique white, brown, and seminole green.  You don't have to use these exact colors.  If all you have is a dark green, put a few drops in your antique white.

Grab an old brush or even a paper towel or rag and smear some paint on the pot.

Wait a few moments and then wipe the paint off.  I use a  slightly damp paper towel but a rag will work.

Do the same thing on the sides and add some green around the bottom and a dab here and there.  It's your pot so do what makes you feel good.  Don't fret too much about getting things right.  Doing an outside pot that will be mostly covered by plant material by the middle of summer doesn't need a whole lot of work.

All done in about 15 minutes...

I can't wait to spend some time visiting other transformations...
