House Envy

The lesson of the gifted bird...

Do you:
  1. Think your house/apartment is the ugliest ever?
  2. See DIY projects by others that make you feel like a klutz?
  3. Worry that you are the most disorganized person in the world?
  4. Spend inordinate amounts of time rearranging your tabletops?
  5. Sometimes eat off of paper plates and would die if someone found out?
  6. Shop too much looking for the perfect item for somewhere in your home?
  7. Become discontented with what you do have very quickly?
  8. Imagine life would be way better if you only had (fill in the blank) ________?
  9. Wish your house was bigger, brighter, cleaner, or a different color?
If you answered yes to more than 3 questions, you may have a raging case of "house envy."
The solution?

Celebrate who you are and how you live.  Be grateful for the lovely things you have.  Remember that "things" don't bring happiness.

And most of all remember:

If only the most gifted bird sang,
the forest would be a quiet place.

That was a great post, Adrienne. We human beings are often NOT grateful for all we have. Compared to people in many other countries, we truly are very, very rich. Your post today was a nice reminder. Thanks. Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com

SO TRUE! It's hard not to get the "gimmes" when seeing all the other beautiful homes, but we never know what goes on in the walls behind the exterior. Having a happy home with a healthy family is the most important thing!

Susan - I know it's all true 'cause I sometimes have "house envy"...

On the other hand I love my HUGE pile of Costco paper plates. Nothing beats them for a quick sandwich or piece of toast.

Debbie - I stopped rearranging long enough today to actually think. heh

You need to fly up here and slap me up side the head.

Adrienne thanks for stopping by my blog. To get larger photos you simply need to change your settings in just go to your 'settings' tab and scroll to the bottom under "Global Settings" click 'updated editor'. Then when you download photos you can pick small, med, large and xlarge. The only thing I don't like is that you lose spell check. I also have another way to change a few things in edit html if you would like to try that. It takes a little more to change but defintely worth the larger pictures. Hope this helps.

Aha.......I think I figured it out. I use a minima stretch template, maybe that is the difference. Also go to this most wonderful site if you have never been there before you are going to be in heaven. If you have been there maybe you didn't get to see this post. Between Naps on the Porch has a tuatorial on this. Here is the URL - sorry I didn't know how to link it.

Debbie - Bless you!!!! That was the exact post I was looking for. I never made a note when I read it and, of course, never could remember. Great minds (well - at least yours is great!)

Thanks for the reminder!
This post reminds me of one of my favorite shows. The Dan Ho Show on Discovery. Dan Ho is the exact opposite of HGTV, somehow still has a tv show. I don't know how he gets advertizing because he advocates Living and using what you have, not reaching for the "new" or "more".

I Heart Dan.
I Heart Adrienne.

God Bless you and have a Happy Valentines weekend.
