Great Art

Timothy Jones
American Realist

I don't remember anymore how I came to stumble upon this wonderful artist but I'm certainly glad I did. Surrounding ourselves with beautiful images and learning to appreciate fine art is all a part of living a beautiful life.

I'm sure you've heard that old adage, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." But when it comes to music and art that is not true. While the beholder may think something is beautiful, it doesn't make it beautiful in the objective sense of the word. Beauty has objective standards and we must train our minds to recognize true beauty whenever it is encountered.

Just so you don't think I'm some kind of arty snob, I have my fair share of Big Lot prints. For $10.00 you can get a really fun large and well framed image that will brighten a corner of your house (or in my case the bathroom where I don't want to put my fine art).

Tim has some wonderful art at super reasonable prices. It's nice to invest in something you really, really love and there is nothing like fine art to make your home look special.

As always - click on picture to make it really, really big...

The above painting by Tim named Nymph Lake, is one of my favorites. You can visit Tim at his Etsy store or drop in on his blog, Old World Swine. Tim is also gracious enough to show us some his methods at the Daily Painting Blog.

Adrienne, perhaps you would let me show you some of my artwork? I have a Eucharistic still-life that would be of interest to Catholics, as well as other things...believe it or not, it's what I do for a living.

Nice painting, by the way!

Austie - I would love to see your artwork and here more about what mediums you use.

I am also starting to feel like you are a ghost. Would you please try again to email me? I really would like to have your address.

This is my "regular" email

Adreienne,
I am not a ghost nor am I a "he" -- I think one of your comments somewhere (Voice of the Vicar?)indicated that you might be under the impression otherwise...I'm sorry to disappoint you!

I will send you an e-mail. We have the phone/internet repair guy coming over today to fix our connection problems, so I might not be able to until later this evening.

Thanks for your comments regarding the adage "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" -- that's ludicrous. I teach art part-time at a new Catholic high school, and I tackle that particular myth with my students.

Gotta run.

Austie - You're a SHE??? How fun! Not a disappointment at all. I take whatever God sends me...

And you teach art. I'm impressed.

Don't forget to email me your address so I can send you your gift...

Well, duh! You just told me you would send an email later. I got up waaaaaaaaaaay too early today.

Adrienne,

Our Internet and phones are fixed! And the repairmen showed up just when they said they would. God is in His heaven, and all is right with the world.

Adrienne, I will send you an e-mail pronto. I really would like to purchase some of your lovely daylilies -- what is the name of the daylily pictured above Lavender Tonic?

By the way, you are not the first to mistake my gender. I guess it's my manner of writing...
