Today will be completely devoted to what I call "desk work." As you can see by the state of my desk and my mail catch-all in the laundry room, it's not a minute too soon.
My catch-all even has a bottle of hand sanitizer and a tube of cat hair-ball remedy shoved in with the mail. Don't ask!
My desk top has about disappeared...
One of the things I have to do is get caught up on my letter writing which is really a lost art in today's world. As a reward for getting my "desk work" done, I'll be getting out some of the paper I've collected over the past few months to line some envelopes. I'll take some pictures and show you how simple it is to make a plain envelope really pretty.
I usually hand write my letters and have an array of fountain pens I use. Today, due to the length of some of the letters, I will probably use the computer.
I'm curious about how many of you write letters. Let me know in the comment section.

Hi - I finally remembered to add this blog to Reader. Don't know why it took so long. Now, if you think the top of your desk has disappeared, you should see mine. One bump and everything will go sliding. Eek!
Gorgeous desk and such pretty envelopes!
Write letters? I used to. I loved using beautiful stationary and pretty ink pens - fountain preferably.
Is the sun shining there?
Fountain pen users are a rare breed, indeed.
No sun today. But soon it will be sunny ALL the time. I have tulips coming up. Some are over 3". How weird is that??
Hi Adrienne...I LOVE to write letters but admittedly, it's not too often that I get to them. One of my life mentors, Alexandra Stoddard, interior designer and author, often refers to the art of letter writing. She also does all of her writing long-hand AND adores using fountain pens. What kind of fountain pens do you use? I'd love to buy one and then use peacock blue ink. Let me know, will you? Your envelopes are cool, too! Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com
P.S. Whoops! Just saw the Dunhll name. Do you use those exclusively? Sincerely, Susan (again)
I write cards, but not nearly so often anymore. matter of fact I was just thinking earlier this week that I needed to send some "just thinking of you" cards out. I also keep cards that I receive. My stepmom's sent me 2 cards over the years that I still keep handy. Sometimes just a hand written note of encouragement can mean the world to someone.
and my handwriting isn't near as pretty as yours!
Sadly, never.
What a lovely desk...
